Hiking, the most popular of all camping activities, only burns 286 calories when the average 155-pound person goes, and only 326 calories when the average 180-pound person goes. You might not think that that’s a big difference, but the average hike doesn’t last more than an hour or two, while rafting can be an all day activity. In other words, you’re going to get a lot more exercise doing one than the other.
