Choose a Swimming Pool Design that Works for You
A recent study shows that over 75% of people state it is important to spend time outside in their yards. It makes sense than that there are over 10.6million swimming pools in the United States. The mix of pools is almost evenly split between above and below ground pools, and roughly 12% of all swimming pools are salt water pools.
Swimming is the most popular recreational activity for young people between the ages of 7 and 17. The average adult goes swimming roughly six times per year. Many use swimming as a low impact exercise, which many do not realize burns more calories than many other types of exercise. An hour of vigorous swimming can burn up to 650 calories.
When choosing a swimming pool design, it is important to consider the property; how much room you have for a pool and the shape of your yard. Custom swimming pools can be designed to fit nearly any space, and can be made in a variety of different shapes.
An inground swimming pool is often made of cement covered in either tile or a vinyl liner. Swimming pool design done in tile is beautiful, easy to clean, and highly durable. Tile may chip over time, but individual tiles can be replaced, which is minor and cost efficient. Liners are one piece and rip fairly easily.
Infinity pool designs are intended for people that are interested in vigorous swimming but do not have the space for a lap pool. Infinity pools are also used by kayaks to practice and build strength.
Some newer pool designs include natural pools, which incorporate live plants into the pool design, so it looks like a pond, but is actually a concrete inground pool. The natural design is believed by some to be healthier ad easier to maintain since the plants provide need aeration.
Another newer swimming pool design is using modified recycled shipping crates. These pool designs can be in ground or above ground. They can be made with windows in the sides. They can double as hot tubs, and if you decide you are unhappy with the placement after they are installed, they can be moved. As an added bonus, using a modified shipping crate is repurposing something that would be otherwise wasted.
Swimming pools are ideal for families to help them get through the hot summers. They are relatively low maintenance and there are plenty of companies that can prepare the pool for the off season. If you live in an area that is hot year-round, you don’t even have to worry about winterizing your pool.
